Health Holiday Retreat
Yoga Lifestyle Immersion

with Tom Gillette

at the Avalon Inn

Immerse yourself in the experience of Yoga, of Oneness. To really dive in deep with the Upanishads, you want to sequester your body and mind in a tranquil retreat environment. This is a chance to get in two aasana classes a day, hikes in nature, chanting, meditating, epicurian surprises and great friends. Clean up your diet and clean up your life.

The Upanishads and Yoga
Sept 17 - 19, 2010
two nights, three days

The Upanishads are the best kept secret of the Yogic tradition. Filled with parables, stories and insights, they were the further revelations of the yoga masters explaining the core principles of the "non-dual" Vedanta philosphy in ordinary terms that any layman can understand.

This course was life changing for those who attended it in May 2010. This program will bring you into a natural state of deep peace with everyone and everything. Come enjoy this relaxing yoga retreat that finds the balance between hatha yoga, reading and self-study.

You will receive a copy of Eknath Easwaran's version of the Upanishads. You will also recieve Tom's new version of selected Upanishads that takes out anthropomorphic and gender biases and transmutes them into a universal, non-sectarian presentation of these ancient truths.

Bring a yoga mat(s), block(s), strap, and meditation pillow. see schedule below.

.

We strongly recommend that you try to get one of the five beautiful Oceanview rooms (Rooms #4 - 8). Each Oceanview room has an attached bathroom with shower and claw foot tub. If you are looking for the most economical way, bring a friend and share a King or Queen size bed. Each room is so different from the next that they are priced very differently.

The Avalon Inn has a great yoga room with this view overlooking the ocean.

Cuttyhunk is special. It is a tiny gem of an island with a gorgeous harbor, about 100 small cottages and only two small inns. The natural scenery is restful and lovely, a perfect setting for a yoga retreat. There are no tourists or cars here. The pace is slow. Everyone walks or gets around in golf carts. This is going to be a small program with only a few lucky guests.

There are no shops or restaurants on the island so bring everything you need.

The Avalon Inn has free Wifi.

As the adage goes: "Theory and practice are meant to go together. Practice without theory is blind. It doesn't know where it is going. Theory without practice has no legs. It goes nowhere."

So theory, practice and a golf cart just in case.
